ABSTRACT
In this paper will explain about the influence of role play in speaking class, especially in giving direction material. Role play is one technique that often use in speaking because the student do teachers’ command spontaneously. There are many techniques that usually use in speaking, but the researcher will focus on role play technique.

Key words : Role Play, Speaking and Giving Direction Material
INTRODUCTION
Speaking is the one of important part from four basic skills in English because speaking has big role in communication. According to Widdowson in Bahraeni (2003:1), “act of communication through as a part of dialogue, or rather forms of verbal exchange interaction involve two peoples, one listener, and other direct or indirect respond”.  According to Brumfit and Johnson (1983),“the difficulty is the ability to compose sentences is not the only ability that we need to communicate. Communication only takes  place when we make use of sentences to perform a variety of different acts essentially”.
In teaching English, the technique that will be used must appropriate with the level of the student. Then, the teacher needs to have a good technique in teaching, because it will influence students’ success in learning. So that, the teacher of English may select whether it is a suitable technique or no for the student.
Role Playing is a good technique, and useful for the student,  because it emphasizes to the “real-world side of science”. It means, role playing gives student many opportunities in learning English.
There are some students in English department felt nervous when they were perform a  role play in front of the class. It means, this technique has a big impact to the student’s comprehension in speaking.
From the background above, the researcher interested in look at how the influence of role playing technique in speaking class affects to the student, especially in giving direction material.
BODY
Definitions of Role Play
Based on Brown (2001), "role-play minimally involves giving a role to one or more members of a group, and assigning an objective or purpose that participants must accomplish." Brown recommended if role play can be conducted with a single person, whether it is in pairs or in groups, with every person assigned a role to accomplish an objective. (p. 183).
Keneth (2008) defines that role play can be defined as the type of student’s behaves in a certain context. In the field of managing, the differencess in identifying role play that can be seen as a role conflict which does not match for a person or by others role playing as a method of teaching which is aware in practicing and discussion of the role in a group. While in the class, the difficulty can be happen so that the student can identify with the roles.
Huang (2008) mention six major steps in the procedure for the role play activities in the class, those are:
1. Decide the material
Before the lesson begin, teacher needs to decide the material for the student. The material that teacher gives can be taken from text books or non-textbook teaching materials, such as story books, movies, pictures, and so on. Beside that, the teacher also can create his or her own authentic teaching materials for role play activities. The teaching material must appropriate with the level of the students and their interest.
2. Select the situation and create the dialogue
The teacher will select the situation, then the student creates the dialogue by themselves according to the situation.
3. Teach the dialogue for role playing
The teacher must teach vocabulary, dialogs, and sentence that important for the role play activities. Then, make sure that students can use vocabulary correctly based on the context. It means, teacher should allow students to ask how to say the words that they want to say.
4. Students need practice the role play
Students can practice in a group or pairs. After they have played their own roles in a few times, given them exchange roles. It helps student to know how if they were in a different role and they will get new experience while they were performing.
5. Students modify the situations and dialogs
When the students have finished and become familiar with an original role play situation, they can modify the situations by their ownselves or dialogues to create a variation of the original role play.
6. Checking and evaluating students’ comprehension
At the end of the class, the teacher will evaluate the effectiveness of the role play activities and check the students’ understanding in using the right vocabulary, sentences, and dialogues. There are several ways to do student evaluation. Students can be given oral, or listening tests relating to the role plays. Here are the examples of oral tests:
-Teacher asks the student to answer some simple questions relating to the role plays
-Teacher asks the student to reenact the role plays
-Teacher asks the student to translate the role plays into their native language

Speaking
Kayi  (2006) defines that speaking  points  to  the  gap  between  linguistic  expertise  and teaching methodology. Linguistic expertise concerns with language content and the structure of the language. Speaking needs habit formation because it is a real communication and speaking is a productive skill. It means, speaking needs to practice as often as possible in the daily of life.
Based on Chaney,  1998, p.  13, speaking is "the process of building and sharing meaning by  using of verbal and non-verbal symbols, in many contexts". Speaking is also give peoples’ understanding about what people said. While as according to Brown,1994; Burns & Joyce, 1997 speaking is an  interactive process  of  constructing  meaning  that  involves  producing, receiving, and  processing information.

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
Conclusion
In conclusion, using role play technique in giving direction material in speaking class is  influencing the student in many aspects. For example; students’ confident, students’ understanding, and students’ mastery of vocabulary that has been given by the teacher, etc. It means, role play technique has a big role in speaking, especially in giving direction material. Giving direction is the important part when learning English because it related to the daily activities in life. So, it is really useful for the student.
Beside that, this technique affected to the students’ performance in speaking because they perform it in front of the class spontaneously. When the student was performing, other student would attention to them. It means, not only the teacher, students’ friend in that class also can correct the mistake when they perform.
Suggestion
The suggestion for the next study is the researcher find the lack of role playing as a classroom technique, so role play can develop to be better. Then, role play technique can being the effectiveness in learning English especially in speaking class.
