Bullying
toward Students as Victims at School
The teaching learning process
should be conducted in well and conducive atmosphere. The students in the class
feel at home in taking part; every of them should support good learning.
Nevertheless, the class can be bad condition while the students feel depressed.
One of the triger is bullying that is done by among them consciously or
unconsciously. Their intention is for cheefulness, but it can be exaggerating
so that this condition creates the problem in their learning in the class.
Bullying itself is seen as a subset of aggressive behaviour (Olweus, 1999),
that is expressed in a open, direct way. For those who feel stress because of
bullying, it will give bad effect for them ending with suicide.
Bullying nowadays can be called
as original second sin. No one deserves to be bullied and be the bully. The
bully takes away others (subject of bullying) confidence and voice, and leave
them with no option but to suffer in silence. As human being not easy to spot
the signs of bullying as it is now always physical or real. Storey (2016) notes
that work with children or students and help them to develop their social
skills so that they know how to stand up to bullying before it starts and
escalates. Emotional and verbal can often leave scars that people do not see.
Wholehearted people will not put others down, though they lift victims up by
supporting and respecting.
Numerous students (children and
teens) have suffered bullying in their life. Bullying intends to hurt, to
upset, and and to distress everyone as subject of the bullying. Bullying can
have huge impact on students’ mental or psychological health. If they are still
being bullied at school, their whole life would be miserable. According to
Copeland (2013), this psychological damage does not just go away because a
person grew up and is no longer bullied, this something that stays with them. There
are big impacts on victims of bullying’s psychological that can be seen such as
they are cautious, withdrawn, insecure, anxious, unhappy, and have low
self-esteem. Mostly bullying victims feel scared and reclusive which can lead
them to have feelings of embarrassment and insulted everyday in their life.
The effect of bullying does not
only impact on students’ psychological but also on their learning process at
school. Olweus (1993) describes the behavior of the bully-victims tends to
elicit negative reactions from many students in the classroom, and the teacher
often dislikes them also. They extremely hard to make friends, out of their
comfort zone and create new circle of friends and enviroments. Plenty of
subjects of bullying choose an adult become their friends rather than peers
because easy to talk with someone who mostly choose respect on and protect
others got bullied. In learning process, bullying causes students become loss
control, ruin school stuffs (book, pencil case, bag, money, and so on), always
decline school projects which all of those can be seen that they have no trust
and source of happiness at school. Otherwise, they do not feel school as
amazing place like it supposed to be for learners.
